Drastic

Before

After

Like I said before I love love love doing Alyssa's hair. She is always up for a big change. In this case it was a huge change. We took her from being mostly blonde to becoming mostly dark. I think she looks great dark. We put some blonde and red highlights throughout it but very subtle. We also cut off about 3 inches. Her hair grows pretty fast and we cut it into an A-line in the back. Thanks Alyssa for letting me do your hair and I look forward to what the next change will be.

Blonde and Beautiful

This is my little sister Jennica. We have had done a few different experiments on her hair but this is by far my favorite. We have done brown and blonde with brown lowlights but I think she looks best in all blonde because it really brings out all of her features and really brightens her up. We just did a partial weave with blonde and just a trim because she is growing her hair out. We tried to have a contest to see whose hair can grow fast and as you can see she is winning. Thanks Jenna for letting me do your hair.

No More Gray

Before

After

This is my mom and doesn't she look so young. Like many older woman she is graying. She just recently got back from a trip where the sun bleached out her hair and her hair grows really fast so you can start to see her gray. What I did with her hair is I put a little bit darker blonde in it and put more caramel low lights with a few lighter blonde highlights because my dad doesn't want me to go too dark on her hair because he loves it more blonde. I don't know what it is with guys and blonde hair. She is also growing her hair out so we just trimmed about 1/4" off the ends and barely trimmed her layers because she is growing those out. My mom styles her hair with rollers which is a lot better for your hair then hot irons. She just blow dries her hair and places rollers throughout and puts the blow dryer on it for a few more minutes to warm up the rollers. She lets the rollers sit in her hair for about 5 minutes and then takes them out and she gets a great look with lots of volume and curls.

Hair Update

This is my friend Trisha from my hair school. Me and her do a trade which is nice. I have fun when we do eachothers hair. She is so daring. She was blonde before and we went all red. I am going to have a post a picture of me because I was all dark now I have caramel highlights.

This is Megan Isham. We did something a little different this time. The last time she had dark in it with a red tint. This time we just did all dark and we did an A-line cut. It is always fun to switch things up if you have had the same hair style for a while. I liked doing Megans hair and caughting up with her.

Daring

I always love doing Alyssa's hair because we always do something fun and different every time. This time she was really daring. I forgot to take a before picture but we cut 6 inches off her hair and put a lot more layers in it and gave her bangs. She is wanting to go really blonde so we are working into it. We did a reddish brown shadow box and put that color through the top along with brown lowlights and a lot of blonde. It was a lot of fun. I always look forward to doing her hair.

This is Kayla. She is Alyssa's sister. She was pretty daring too. She had longer hair. We cut off about 4 inches. After this we ended up cutting an A-line. It looked like Posh's hair where it was really short in the back and was more of a drastic A-line. We then put brown lowlights in her hair to break up the blonde and it is more fun to fall. Thanks girls for letting me do your hair and posting your pictures.

Ringlets

This is my friend Krystal. I did her hair for her wedding. Ringlets is an easy and fun way to do your hair for special occasions and something to do any day to look more fun and elegant. When doing ringlets put some pomade on the ends of the hair so they don't get fuzzy. I then divide the hair into rows starting with the bottom of the hair. I lightly spray the hair with hairspray and start taking small sections. If you want your hair more curly near then root then start curling with the curling iron at the root and work your way to the ends of the hair. If you want more curl at the bottom of the hair. Then start curling at the ends and work your way to the root. You do that until you get to the top. On the top layer I usually curl the hair starting at the root so the hair doesn't look flat on top and curly on the bottom. I then use bobby pins to pull some of the ringlets back to make a softer look so the hair isn't really poofy. It was so much fun doing Krystals hair. Thanks for letting me use your pictures.

Short and Sassy

Short haircuts look really good on people who have oval, diamond, or inverted triangle face shapes. Stephanies hair use to be down to her shoulder and she wanted something more fun. We first cut off the length to match her chin. Then we cut a ton of layers throughout her hair. Lots of short layers add body to your hair. We also added this auburn color for the fall and it really matched her skin tone very well. You can also do many fun styles with short cuts like this. You can have a sophisticated look like she has or you could put some gel in it and do it messy for a more fun and wild look. Short hair is very fun and easy to work with if you are limited on time to get ready.

A-lines

A-lines are a great haircut to get if you want something fun and different. They look very good on many face shapes. A-lines are a little more high maintenance than other haircuts but you can do so many fun things with them. You could straighten the front and flip out the back like in the pictures above for a more funky look. Or you could curl it all under for a more sophisticated look. With a few bobby pins you can have fun with it and create different styles. This is my favorite haircut to do because every single person that I have done an A-line on has looked so good and they are really different than any other haircuts. Courtney came in with her hair down to her shoulders and a very light brown color. We changed it to be more funky because that is her personality and then we added a warm dark brown into to accent her skin tone and for the fall. They are different ways you can do A-lines. We did a slight A-line with tons of layers in the back so she could have fun and be creative when styling her hair. So if you don't know what kind of haircut to get and want something really different and A-line is a great cut to get for anyone. Please feel free to leave a comment if there is anything you would like to see.

Face Shapes

There are so many different face shapes out there as you can see in the picture above. When getting a haircut you want the best haircut that suits your face shape.
There are seven basic types of facial shapes. They are:

1. Oval,
2. Long,
3. Rectangular,
4. Pear,
5. Diamond
6. Square, and
7. Heart

Oval

The oval face is 1.5 times longer that it is wide and its forehead is slightly wider than the jaw. Considered the most ideal and versatile facial shape by hair experts, many haircuts and styles suit an oval face. However, the best styles to go for are the ones that have layers at the height of you best features such as cheekbones, lips or chin. Short layers at the top of the head should be avoided as they make the face look longer, while ladies with an oval face and thick and curly hair should avoid blunt cut as it looks like a pyramid.

Rectangular
Long and narrow facial shape with a square chin and hairline is known as Rectangular facial shape. Hair cut for rectangular face should add width to its sides, play down on its length by adding a fringe on the forehead and a style that has a side part to soften the squareness of the face. Extremely long or short haircuts make the face look longer while chin-length bobs and haircuts add width to the face. Another way to add the width is to add the curls & waves in your hair. However, short layers lend volume to the top further elongating the face then balancing it.

Round
This facial type has a round chin. Hairstyles should add height on top of the head. You have to cut the bulk from the sides of your face to give it an oval look. So, one length haircut or blunt cuts on short hair should be avoided. Hair width needs to be minimized on the sides and around the ears by keeping them flat at those points. Wispy tapered ends take away the attention from the roundness of the face. Hair styles that fall right below the chin and have layers from the top down, elongate the face and look good.

Square
Facial shapes that have a square jaw line and hairline and seem too short, need a hairstyle that lends length and roundness to it. Layered hair around the jaw line soften it a bit while wispy hair take the attention away from the squareness of the face. Layered haircuts that frame the face are best for square faces. Best options are the short, spiky cuts or long, sleek styles with top down layers starting at the jaw line. Blunt cut bangs or chin-length bobs make the face look squarer.

Heart
This facial shape is widest at the temples and narrowest at the jaw line with a small and delicate and sometimes pointed chin. Hairstyle for this shape needs to add width at the jaw line. Eyes and cheekbones are generally strong points of the heart shaped face. Women with short hair can keep the top layers soft and long or side-swept bangs while the women with longer hair can try long, wavy layers that come across to your cheekbones that lend certain rounded look to the pointed chin. Harsh choppy layers or blunt cut bangs do not suit a heart-shaped face.

Pear
This facial shape has a narrow forehead and wide jawline with a round chin. Attempt is to add width to the forehead and the temples while taking the attention away from the roundness of the jaw. You hair should appear wide and full at the top and temples and could be wear brushed away from the face and up toward the ears. Down from the ears, the hair should fall along the chin to soften it and narrow down the jaw line. Chin length hair is best. Decrease the hair volume from the top, the sides and around the ears. Curls around the temples will soften the face.

Diamond
Widest at the forehead but narrow at the forehead and chin, hair styles for a diamond face needs to add width to the forehead and soften or disguise the cheekbones to give an illusion of the oval face. Add more fringe and volume to the forehead and the chin while smooth hair compliment the cheekbones better. A low side parting and a sweep of hair brushed across the forehead add width to the face and make it look shorter. Asymmetric haircuts look good too along with adding to the hair volume with curly or wavy styles.
