Product/Tip of the week: Sun and Pool Care

I know many of us have dry hair during the summer and our color tends to fade or bleach out. It is important to take care of your hair during the summer time especially if you are swimming all the time. Redken carries a great product line that is strictly for the sun. It is Color Extend Sun and it helps you to keep your color lasting longer during the summer and your hair soft and not brittle from the chlorine in a pool. Here is a run down of what each product does...

Shampoo: Gently cleanses and removes minerals, chlorine and salt deposits while helping to repair sun-damaged hair.

Conditioner Mask: After-Sun Mask instantly detangles and revitalizes sundamaged hair with intense moisture replenishment and repair.

Leave In Treatment: Protects hair and scalp from UVA/UVB rays, which damage the cuticle, leading to color fading on all hair types. Has spf 12.

As much as your skin needs sunscreen during the summer so does your hair so you can spray the leave in conditioner on your hair before you head out to the pool. Also another way to really protect your hair from chlorine is to use a swim cap. I know they aren't the most attractive things but they do make some cute ones out there and you will be happy you used them when your hair feels better at the end of the summer. Also do not shampoo your hair before entering a pool cause that strips your hair of its natural oils making it easier for chlorine to seep into your hair.

I also offer a 4 Step Deep Conditioner for $10 in my salon. I feel it is important to deep condition your hair once a week to add protein and moisture back into your hair that everyday wear and tear can take out. My 4 Step Deep Conditioner lasts about 17 minutes.

Let me know if you have anymore questions on summer hair care, if you would like to purchase the redken product, or if you would like to get a deep conditioning treatment done.
